Inner Garden

LA TECHNOLOGIE AU SERVICE DE L’AUTONOMIE, LA DIGNITÉ ET D’UN BIEN ÊTRE DURABLE

Inner Garden offers an immersive, poetic and meditative sensory experience.

Initially designed to raise awareness of mindfulness meditation, Inner Garden’s original use was, to help elderly to regulate their anxiety and to increase their cognitive availability prior to any neuropsychological assessment. Since then, new uses have been found and Inner Garden has reached different audiences . It has evolved to interact at various levels with different people suffering from cognitive disabilities.

More broadly speaking, Inner Garden happens to also be an ideal tool of relaxation for anyone, from staff, to professionals and relative carers. It is particularly suitable for the regulation of anxiety, in addition to cognitive and sensory stimulations, and emotional resources.

BREATHING :
The biofeedback’s approach acquires real meaning when Inner Garden is used in combination with a breathing belt that enables its user to visualize his/her breathing symbolized in the movements of the waves.

MEDIATION :
In collaborative use, Inner Garden allows a progressive familiarization with physical exchange. For example, when a person is using the breathing belt, he is changing the landscape, while a somebody else is shaping the sand.

RELAXATION :
Multimodal sensory immersion quickly reduces anxiety disorders and maintains a connection to the environment. The effects are thus prolonged beyond the use of Inner Garden.

The technologies used were chosen with the idea of extending the effects beyond the use of the device. For example, spatial augmented reality (or hybrid reality) has been favoured because it does not induce any discontinuity in the experience, unlike virtual reality.

For which audience ?

Young children with ASD, ADHD or IDD

Adults with anxiety or cognitive impairments

Elderly people with neurodevelopmental conditions

.
